The Responsibilities Behind
an Independent Life

A full life comes with a surprising amount to manage. Over time, the details can begin competing with the things you would rather be doing.

The Home

Maintenance, repairs, vendors, projects, seasonal needs, and the constant list of things that require attention.

The Calendar

Appointments, reservations, commitments, paperwork, reminders, and details that are easy to postpone.

Health & Wellness

Appointments, specialists, records, prescriptions, fitness, nutrition, and the logistics surrounding your health.

Getting Around

Driving, appointments, airport transportation, errands, and having reliable alternatives when plans change.

Technology

Phones, computers, passwords, Wi-Fi, printers, smart-home devices, and the inevitable troubleshooting.

The Unexpected

A contractor cancels. A flight changes. Something breaks. A new responsibility appears without warning.

None of these things mean you are losing your independence.

But managing all of them yourself is not what makes you independent.

Having the right support gives you more choice over how you spend your time.

Ned Small, founder of Good Life Concierge

Meet Ned

A different kind of concierge, built from a different kind of experience.

Good Life grew from more than 20 years of helping people maintain their health, homes, independence, and way of life.

My career began in health and fitness. When several clients experienced serious health changes, my role expanded into rehabilitation support and caregiving. Before long, their families were asking me to manage the other pieces of life too: homes, appointments, vendors, travel, technology, paperwork, and everyday logistics.

That work eventually led to private-service roles supporting aging founders and accomplished individuals as a personal assistant, household manager, wellness coach, travel companion, and trusted right hand.

I created Good Life Concierge to bring those experiences together in one service.

Today, I help clients manage the infrastructure behind an independent life, so they can spend less time managing details and more time living on their own terms.

The goal isn't to take over your life. It's to make more of it yours.

The Philosophy

Independence isn't about
doing everything yourself.

It is about having the freedom, confidence, and support to keep making your own choices. Good Life is built around three principles that help protect that freedom.

01

Protect Your Independence

Independence is not measured by how much you manage alone. The right support can reduce unnecessary responsibilities while keeping you firmly in control of your life, home, and decisions.

02

Plan Before You Need a Plan

The best time to create options is while you still have plenty of them. Thoughtful preparation can make your home, routines, relationships, and support systems more adaptable when life changes.

03

Make Room for More Life

Support should do more than solve problems. It should create time and capacity for the people, experiences, interests, travel, projects, and everyday moments that make life worth living.

The goal is not simply to remain independent. It is to have the freedom to keep living well.

Services

One trusted person.
Four areas of support.

Good Life brings household, personal, social, and lifestyle support together through one trusted point of contact. The details vary by client. The goal stays the same: less to manage and more freedom to live on your terms.

01

Household Management

Keep your home running without making it your full-time job.

  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and trusted vendors
  • Oversee home projects, seasonal needs, and property checks
  • Organize household systems, technology, and recurring tasks
  • Manage downsizing, moves, and relocation logistics
02

Personal Concierge

Take the logistics off your calendar.

  • Manage calendars, appointments, reservations, and reminders
  • Plan travel, itineraries, transportation, and experiences
  • Handle errands, research, gifting, and personal requests
  • Organize paperwork, subscriptions, and everyday administration
03

Companionship & Connection

Make more room for people, experiences, and interests you enjoy.

  • Share walks, outings, conversation, hobbies, and activities
  • Support social plans, community involvement, and meaningful routines
  • Accompany clients on local, domestic, and international travel
  • Provide transportation in the client's insured vehicle when appropriate
04

Health & Lifestyle Support

Make healthy routines and important appointments easier to maintain.

  • Coordinate medical appointments, records, questions, and follow-up logistics
  • Accompany clients to appointments as a second set of ears and an advocate
  • Support fitness, mobility, nutrition, sleep, and stress-management routines
  • Help organize wellness goals and the practical routines that support them

Some clients need help in one area. Others want one person who understands how all four fit together. Good Life adapts around the life you already have.

What You're Really Buying

Your time, returned to you.

Good Life handles the details that compete for your attention, so you can put more of your time and energy toward the life you actually want to live.

01

Time

Fewer calls to make. Fewer details to track. Fewer hours spent coordinating the home, calendar, appointments, travel, and everyday logistics.

More time for what deserves it.

02

Freedom

Travel when you want. Make plans more easily. Spend longer with family. Start the project. Take the class. Enjoy your home without organizing your life around its upkeep.

Support should expand your choices, not limit them.

03

Confidence

Know that important details are being followed through, trusted help is available, and someone familiar with your preferences can step in when needed.

You remain in control without having to control every detail.

04

Continuity

Instead of explaining your life to a rotating cast of people, work with someone who knows your home, routines, preferences, priorities, and the people you rely on.

One trusted relationship becomes more valuable over time.

The point of every detail is the life it makes possible.

See How Good Life Works

If three of these burdens sound familiar, support is no longer a luxury. It is a strategy.

The biggest threat to an enjoyable retirement is not necessarily aging. It is the gradual accumulation of responsibilities that slowly take away the freedom retirement was supposed to provide.

In Their Words

Trusted with what matters most.

Supporting her mother through several years and three moves

He provided comprehensive support centered on healthy aging in place, coordinating everything from daily exercise routines and meal planning to medical appointments and follow-up with healthcare providers.

As my mother's needs evolved due to dementia, Ned skillfully expanded his scope, managing her household and finances, organizing paperwork and bills, and assisting with shopping and errands. He also oversaw multiple transitions, helping her downsize and move three times, each handled with patience, organization, and sensitivity.

He built trust not only with her but with our entire family, offering steady reassurance during what can be a very challenging time for aging loved ones.

Supporting his mother to remain independent at home

In addition to compassionate care, his technical and property management skills have been crucial in allowing my mom to remain in her home.

Ned has been a lifesaver in caring for my 95-year-old mom, who is still living independently, but would be in deep trouble were it not for Ned. He identifies and solves problems from cable, TV, and internet to plumbing leaks and much more.

Ned has saved my mom money by identifying unnecessary expenses we were able to eliminate thanks to his efforts. Our entire family is grateful to have Ned's compassionate, knowledgeable presence in our mom's life.

The Approach

Support should fit your life, not the other way around.

Every Good Life relationship begins with understanding what matters to you, what you want to keep doing, and what would make life easier. From there, we build the right level of support around the life you already have.

01

Understand Your Life

We start with a conversation about how you live today, what matters most, what is working well, and where responsibilities are taking more time or energy than you would like.

The goal is to understand before we recommend.

02

Build the Right Support

Together, we determine what should stay in your hands, what can be delegated, and where better systems, coordination, or trusted support could make everyday life easier.

You decide where support adds value.

03

Adapt as Life Changes

Good Life becomes a consistent point of support that can evolve with your priorities, travel, household, routines, projects, and changing circumstances.

The relationship grows more useful as it grows more familiar.

You remain the decision-maker. Good Life helps make those decisions easier to carry out.

“I measure my work by the lives my clients keep living. They stay independent, age in place with dignity, stay active in their community, and delegate without worry.”

Questions

Is Good Life
right for you?

We serve accomplished individuals and couples across Seattle's Eastside Communities who want to stay independent at home and value their time, privacy, and continuity. Most are retired. Many still work, lead passion projects, or serve on boards. Some have no children. Others have adult children in another state, or advisors who need a steady local presence. Adult children and advisors often make the first call on behalf of someone they love.

We are not a home-care agency, and we are not a transactional errand service. Most concierges arrange experiences. We safeguard a way of life through one ongoing relationship that spans the household, personal logistics, companionship, and health and lifestyle coordination. The support is non-medical. When specialized expertise is needed, we source and coordinate the right professionals. You stay in control of every decision.

The work falls into four areas. Household Management covers vendor oversight, upkeep, and the details of running a home. Personal Concierge covers scheduling, travel planning, technology, organization, and project management. Companionship and Connection covers time together, outings, and staying socially engaged. Health and Lifestyle Support covers appointment coordination, meal and exercise planning, and working alongside your providers. Explore All Services.

Good Life runs on a membership model with three tiers and clear pricing, plus à la carte hours for one-off projects or a trial before a larger commitment. Membership is intentionally limited so every client receives consistent, personal attention. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm, and Saturday, 7am to 12pm. Evening, weekend, and holiday requests are available at separate rates. See the Pricing page for tiers, included hours, and rates.

Our primary service area is Seattle's Eastside Communities. We also take à la carte projects, special engagements, and secondary residences elsewhere in Washington or out of state at our discretion. We assist with travel planning and logistics, and can accompany clients on domestic or international trips. Travel and project work is arranged and priced separately from local membership hours.

Yes. Ned is your primary point of contact, and continuity is central to how Good Life works. You are not handed between unfamiliar people, and you never restart the explanation of how your household runs. Membership is intentionally limited so that stays true. When a task calls for specialized expertise, Ned coordinates trusted professionals and remains the person you deal with.

Good Life Concierge is a non-medical concierge and personal assistance service. We do not provide personal care, bathing, dressing, medication administration, skilled nursing, housekeeping, or hands-on yard work. We do not give legal, financial, investment, or tax advice, and we do not perform licensed trade work. We do not drive clients in our own vehicles, though we are glad to drive you in your registered, insured vehicle. For anything outside our scope, we source and coordinate qualified professionals, and help you arrive at those meetings organized.

It starts with a private conversation about how you live, what matters to you, and what you would like to make easier. From there we build the right support and adjust it as life changes. Send a confidential email describing your situation, or the situation of someone you love, and we will arrange a time to talk. No pressure, only clarity. Start a conversation.

A short, confidential conversation is the fastest way to find out whether this fits your household.
